Atlético Madrid

Atletico Madrid, much like Manchester City, represent the complete opposite of Real Madrid in more ways than one, with their home, the 55,000 seat Vicente Calderon, situated astride a motorway in the more industrial southern part of the city. If Real Madrid are not playing at home, this is a good option to see a premier league team during your school tour to Madrid.
Their fans proudly sport T-shirts bearing the logo "Anti-Madridistas" and they offer a livlier atmosphere than their wealthier neighbours. The nine times Spanish champions do not have as many well-known names as Real, but it is definately worth a visit during your school tour to Madrid.
Matches are usually scheduled for Sunday evenings but this can change to the Saturday evening due to either television rights or forthcoming European fixtures. Whilst the draw indicates the weekend a game will be played, it is not until the Monday before the game that the day (Saturday or Sunday) and the time are decided, so keep this in mind when booking flights if you plan on going to an Atletico game.
